Mr. T Went Down to Georgia

After my adventures in Kentucky, I headed down to the ATL to hang with Gran and Papa Cecil. Gran taught me how to pull myself up while she is holding on to my fingers. I am really hot stuff when I do that. I guess she was trying to buddy up to me after kicking mommy and daddy out of the house so much. She tried to play it off as though she wanted them to go on dates while they had "free babysitting," but I know she just wanted me all to herself. Other than pulling up and demonstrating my newly acquired rolling skills, my aunt Leslie came to see me a lot, and I was able to meet some of mommy's friends and their babies! Mommy's friend, Marti, has a three year old daughter named Sara who made me laugh the entire time I was at her house. She would jump up and down for me, and I thought it was the funniest thing I have EVER seen. I also was able to meet my second cousin, Ella Ann. As you can see from the picture below, she was gracious enough to allow me to use her baby seat, while I let her play with my elephant. Aren't we good at sharing?

I forgot to mention earlier that the first stop my my southern adventure was to see Granddaddy and Uncle Baxter. I actually tried to blog from his house, but his computer apparently is hooked up to a modem that runs on an abacus, so my attempts were completely futile. Mommy's nanny and Aunt Dee came to visit me. They are crazy and each one kept telling me how ugly the other one was. It was pretty funny.

I also was able to finally meet my great aunt Margaret, who braved the Georgia heat to come meet me. We stayed at her house on our way home to Virginia at the end our trip, too. She has a fig tree, which mommy fell in love with, and a really snazzy bag of ice and a ladle that kept me entertained for quite awhile.

Before heading home on Sunday, we had a pool party with all of Gran's family. You know how I love swimming, so I enjoyed showing off my skills in the pool. That 18-year old state wrestling champion lifeguard had nothing on me (but nanny sure did like him).

My Old Kentucky Home

I had a great time visiting my nana and papa in Kentucky! I even mastered the fine art of rolling and rolling and rolling over while there. Mommy says this is entirely appropriate given the time honored Kentucky wedding tradition of everyone lying down on the floor and rolling around during the song, "Proud Mary." Apparently this is a mandatory feature, much like tossing the bouquet or cutting the cake, at any wedding reception for daddy's friends. Other than rolling, I had the pleasure of meeting everyone at nana and papa's offices, as well as the rest of daddy's side of the family, including my other two great grandmothers. My great-nanny Thompson even made some of her famous fried chicken when she came over to see me. You won't be at all surprised to learn that daddy wanted to give me some, but mommy's strong objection prevailed in the end.

Water World

Much to daddy's chagrin, I went swimming for the first time Wednesday night while I was at my godfamily's house in Franklin. I LOVED it! I just sat back in my float and let mommy spin me all around the pool. This is the life for me. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed having Jim, Jessica, and Philip playing with me all the time! Aside from swimming a lot, I took a nice, long napwith my godmother, Jill; and my godfather, Jay, babysat me one night and introduced me to the Atlanta Braves!

Also, I was able to meet my future wife, Elise Kuzniak. She is the six week old daughter of mommy's friend, Lauren. She has really cool toys, doggies, and great parents (so I know I will have good in-laws when we get married). The only problem is she has UGA blood in her veins. When we got to the house, her daddy was actually wearing a UGA T-shirt. It was awkward at first because I was in my Georgia Tech gear, but we were able to move past it pretty quickly.

Leaving On a Jet Plane

Yesterday I rode on an airplane for the very first time. Daddy took mommy and me to the airport very early yesterday morning so we could catch our flight to the ATL. I was so excited that I pooped my pants on the way. Mommy and daddy both said it was better that it happened then rather than on the plane. I'll take their word for it. Mommy says I was a dream baby for the flight because I slept for half of it. It was really fun when I was awake, though. I had brunch, compliments of mommy (who always seems to have a meal ready for me when it is time to eat); and, following in daddy's footsteps, I flirted with the flight attendants for the remainder of the flight. Naturally, I charmed their pants off. Gran and Papa Cecil met us at the airport, and we went to their house for awhile before heading to Chattanooga to spend two nights with Granddaddy. Tomorrow, we head to Nashville to meet my god-family, the Clarkes, before heading to Kentucky to meet up with daddy and all of his side of the family on Friday. And so begins my summer southern tour!

Grandparent Mania

In all my life, I have never seen so many grandparents in the same place at the same time. I was baptized today and ALL of my grandparents came to see it. It was pretty cool, and they did their best to spoil me rotten. Frankly, I am not sure my little butt touched ground the entire weekend, and they brought me so many presents that I don't know what to do with myself. Granddaddy is still here, so I'm looking forward to carrying this spoiling on through midweek when he leaves.

Gran and Papa Cecil arrived Thursday evening. On Friday, we went to Daddy's club to have lunch. It was really nice outside and we saw four deer on the way home. Of course, mommy wanted to play cards, so I played my very first game of spades. As you can see, I really liked it.

Nana and Papa Wayne arrived Friday night after battling rush hour traffic on the beltway. Man, they must really love me because they flew into Baltimore and then drove to Virginia. What a hike! Nana tickled me with my elephant, which I thought was simply hilarious.

Granddaddy completed the party when he arrived on Saturday afternoon. We had a big cookout that night, and the grandparents demanded to watch videos of my baby days. I was asleep, but I hear they enjoyed it.

Sunday morning, everyone came over to the house before heading to church. It was pretty sunny out, so, naturally, I opted for shades.

I was the first of four boys our pastor, John, baptized this morning. I was really digging the water and didn't cry at all. It was fun to be in church with mommy and daddy (not to mention the grandparents). The music was really fascinating. Afterwards, we came back to the house for MORE food and picture pandemonium. I need a weekend to recover from the weekend!

Birdie, Birdie in the Sky

Mommy and I went to Jeanne's house for lunch today. When we arrived, she showed us the baby sparrows who are living in a mud nest on her front porch. They were so tiny, much smaller than I am! It was so fun to watch their mommy come and feed them. Even my mommy had never before seen anything like it!

Raining Cats and Dogs

We are in the middle of a monsoon. In all my (almost) five months, I have never seen so much rain! It is more than a baby should have to handle. Mommy's flowers have exploded thanks to the torrential downpour. Daddy says they have doubled in size since this picture was taken on Friday! Meanwhile, I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever see the sun again.

Since I've been staying inside so much, I've been working on some new tricks. My latest accomplishment - toppling Thatcher TV.
