This Little Pig Went to...My Mouth

I finally did it! I managed to get my foot in my mouth! I cannot tell you how excited I am. I've been practicing a lot lately by reaching for things and then bringing them to my mouth. Today, I hit the motherload and managed to actually bring my big toe to my mouth and suck on it for a good 20 seconds. It goes without saying that I am seriously entertaining the thought of becoming a yoga instructor.

International Man of Mystery

Buongiorno, Italia! Last week, mommy booked a trip to Italy for us! I can't wait to go, but she tells me that I will have to wait until the end of October. In the mean time, I will have to brush up my Italian. Even though I've technically already been to Italy, I don't really count it because I was inside of mommy--and she didn't even know I was there. This time, I'll be crawling or maybe even walking, and I will even have my very own passport! Needless to say, I think I am pretty cool. My grandparents--every last one of them--strongly object to my becoming an international bebe at such a young age. Personally, I think they are protesting only because each one of them secretly thinks he/she will get to keep me if mommy and daddy leave me at home. Fat Chance.

I practiced traveling this weekend when I went to a wedding in Pennsylvania. It was a lot of fun when mommy and daddy let me stay up late on Friday night...but not so much fun when we all paid the price the next day. Mommy at least was able to make it to about 45 minutes of the six hour reception.

We returned home early this afternoon after picking Winnie and Tuffy up from Happy Tails. They are clearly drained from their weekend at doggie day care and have not moved since coming home - not even to look for kitty cats outside. I gave daddy his father's day presents, which he seemed to like (but clearly was a little disappointed that I hadn't sprung for the $700 golf academy weekend he wanted). Now, I'm going to head upstairs for a nap in my very own crib (something I missed while I was away) and dream about floating through the Venetian canals in a gondola. Only four and a half months to go!

Weekend Update

I've been super busy this weekend! Mommy had to install my new car seat on Friday night. Daddy told her he didn't think she could do it, so she naturally took that as a challenge and decided to show him! Of course, she had it installed in a matter of minutes and felt quite triumphant...until my Gran rightly said that daddy probably just dared mommy to do it so he wouldn't have to. The sun came up on Saturday so daddy played golf while mommy and I made an orange cream and raspberry trifle to take to a dinner party that night. We had a pretty good time there - there were LOADS of babies and the weather was blissfully spring-like. Yesterday, I decided to wake up an hour early, so we spent the entire day trying to get back on schedule. It wasn't terribly fun, but we did it. We spent the evening at our church's congregational dinner and meeting. Daddy was speaking about the budget, so mommy and I tried to stay for the whole thing (a huge challenge given that I was off schedule and daddy was slated to go on precisely at my bedtime). I cooed, laughed, and talked the entire time the preacher was speaking. Mommy was a little embarrassed, but I told her that I am adorable and people could just deal with it. Actually, a lot of people commented that they were impressed that I was able to stay awake while the preacher was speaking! Other than that, I've just been working on quality tummy time, hanging out in my bouncer, and playing with the tuff dog. If you don't believe me, here's the proof:

Braveheart

I went to the doctor today for my four-month check up. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be - even the shots were okay. Sure, I teared up (out of anger, not because it hurt, of course); but as soon as the otherwise lovely nurse had finished piercing my skin with a needle not one, not two, but three times, I was just fine. I am pleased to report that I am 26.5 inches long, which puts me into the 90th percentile for height. It also means that I have outgrown my car seat, so mommy had to buy a new one today. I figured she'd be really happy about this - I've always heard that mommy likes tall boys.

Anyway, the best part of my trip to the doctor by far is that he told me to tell daddy I had a good weenie (no, he didn't tell me what percentile it is). Clearly, he will be my physician for life if he keeps doling out compliments like that. Daddy wants to start seeing him, too.

For obvious reasons, I won't be putting up any pictures with this post!

My Own Two Feet

I found my feet last Thursday. Now I can't get enough of them. The best part about them is that they are wherever I go, so I always have something to play with now!

Over the weekend, I read that Al Gore announced he will not run for president in 2008. Mommy and daddy tell me there was a big ruckus when he ran for president six years ago. All I have to say is this:

Sun Safety

Today, mommy took me to Janie and Jack to buy a hat for the summer...

...but I looked so cool in the sunglasses, I had to get those, too.

My First Memorial Day

I celebrated my first Memorial Day this weekend. As you might imagine, daddy celebrated on the golf course...Friday, Saturday, and Monday! On Sunday, we went to meet daddy's Uncle Mike and Aunt Vicki at daddy's cousin David's house. Later that night, we went to mommy's friend Bill's house. He was having a cookout for a bunch of her friends from work. It was very exciting as I got to stay up an hour past my bedtime and I was able to hang out with my honorary Uncle JR. We are pretty tight ever since he diagnosed my jaundice when he came to visit me at the hospital when I was born. Plus, I remember him from all of the coffee breaks he would take with mommy and honorary Uncle Bill when mommy used to work. Man, those were the days!

Anyway, after daddy finished golfing (an hour late) on Monday, we went over to the Weber house. We had a potluck cookout along with the Henning family from church. There were seven children there including moi! I can't wait until I am old enough to play with them. As it was, I had to hang out with the grownups. It was kind of cool, though, because daddy changed my diaper not once, not twice, but three times while we were there. I don't know what got into him. He kept telling mommy that I needed to be changed, and she just said, "Okay, go ahead and change him." Daddy was confused (as he is used to changing approximately one diaper a week), but he did it anyway. It was confusing for me, too, but mommy assures me that we will both get used to it.

In other news, I've been spending time in the Exercauser granddaddy gave me at Christmas when I was still in mommy's tummy. I really like playing with all of the cool toys on it, and I can turn all the way around in it. It rocks.
